Service In the American Chemical Society

My ACS experience dates back more than 25 years to my student affiliate chapter days and has included volunteering and leading at all levels from local, regional meetings and ACS National Governance. I truly know that demonstrating action and leadership skills with the Women Chemists Committee and as a local section chair helped lead to my first leadership role within industry. I have had the wonderful fortune to work with many outstanding and dedicated colleagues across numerous ACS National Committees. I have served as a full member & chair of the Women Chemists Committee and Committee on Committee, as well as a committee liaison to Budget & Finance, Meetings and Exposition and Council Policy Committee.  Seven years with the Corporation Associates (Board Committee) taught me about ACS industry relations and the changing needs of industrial members.

I am also tremendously proud the strong history of impact of our Indiana Section. It is a tribute to thoughtful succession planning and setting a long-term vision that enabled our Section to host the first National meeting in Indianapolis in 2013 (plus taking it on again in 2023). I was but one of the long-standing leaders that committed to bring in new voices & energy to carry the torch as an Award-winning chapter for many years to come. During my rotation as Chair in 2002, our section was recognized as a finalist for 6 Chemluminary Awards. We brought home 3 Awards that year, including Most Innovation Recognition of Women Chemists, Best On-Going National Chemistry Week Event and our first Best Overall Section-Medium size.
